The K10 (Anxiety and Depression test)

As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally-responsive care, Afiya EAP offers the K10 to help screen for levels of psychological distress among employees. This evidence-based tool is simple, quick, and effective for identifying signs of anxiety and depression.

The K10 consists of 10 questions about emotional states experienced in the past four weeks. It is widely used in clinical and workplace settings to understand how an individual may be coping and whether they may benefit from further mental health support.

Why Use the K10 at Afiya EAP?

Many individuals from Muslim and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds may hesitate to seek help for emotional wellbeing due to stigma, cultural barriers, or a lack of culturally appropriate services. At Afiya, we bridge this gap by:

  • Administering the K10 in a safe, confidential, and judgement-free environment, where employees are supported by professionals who understand their cultural and religious values.
  • Offering the K10 as a voluntary screening tool for staff and employers who wish to better understand their mental wellbeing or the general state of workplace stress.
  • Providing consultations by our Muslim and CALD-sensitive mental health clinicians for those with moderate to high levels of distress.
